Done poperly, they give many years of service. One of the first cases I did is still in place after 25+ years.

Depending on several factors, some tooth structure may be removed during the preparation for veneers.

About 1.5 hours on first visit and up to 3 hours on second visit depending on how many veneers are done.

Normal eating and chewing are permitted. Just don t use teeth as "tools."

It depends on particular situations. Porcelain is stronger but more brittle than composite resin.

Are porcelain veneers an alternative to braces?

In certain cases it could, but if teeth are very much out of positon, braces would be best to move them where they belong.

If just my upper teeth have veneers, won t my bottom teeth look strange, as if they don t match?

Many times we can do bleaching of lowers to help match the uppers. Also, in many cases, patients determine that their lower teeth don't show much when they talk.

Does the veneer application process hurt?

Typically we make the areas we are working on numb so as to be comfortable during the process.

How will my teeth look between the veneer application visits?

Depending on individual circumstances, temporary veneers may be made for short term use.

How many teeth will need veneers?

It depends on desires of individual cases. I have done as few as one and as many as 16 on a single patient.
