An Interview With Wilfred A Miyasaki, DMD , A Qualified Dentist In Honolulu

1. What does a veneer cost?

The cost of veneers can very dramatically depending on what type, the problems it needs to overcome, and the patient' s individual desires. There is usually no set solution that fits everyone. Veneers are usually customized to each person. But as a general guideline the range of prices can be anywhere from $700 to over $2000.

2. Are there any risks to the tooth structure?

Lumineers is a way to reduce risk to natural tooth structure.

LUMINEERS™ is a painless, permanent cosmetic solution for stained, chipped, discolored, or misaligned teeth. LUMINEERS is a porcelain veneer that can be made as thin as a contact lens and is placed over existing teeth without requiring removal of painful tooth structure (unlike traditional veneers). LUMINEERS are proven to last 20 years in an on-going study.

• No shots

• No painful tooth reduction

• Only 2 dental visits

3. How long does it take?

Veneers can take as little as two appointments over a two to three week period. People can often have the glorious smile they always wanted almost instantly.

4. What dental problems can veneers address?

5. Are veneers covered by insurance?

Veneers are usually considered cosmetic so they are typically not covered by dental insurance. However, in some instances when a veneer is replacing large existing restorations or a previous veneer it may be covered. People will need to discuss this with their dentist to determine if any insurance benefits will be available.

6. Will it hurt?

As with all dental procedures your dentist will do all he can to keep you as comfortable as possible. Typically you should feel very little or nothing at all.

There are specific types of veneers called Lumineers that are so comfortable. They require No shots and No painful tooth reduction. Consult your dentist to see if you are a candidate for Lumineers.
