An Interview With Dr. Rairigh, A Qualified Dentist In Pittsburgh

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are one of the most common cosmetic dental treatments available in dentistry today to give you the smile you have always dreamed of. Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain laminates that are bonded over the front of your existing tooth structure to give a much more symmetrical and pleasing smile. The Porcelain veneers procedure typically take 2 visits to complete. At the first visit the teeth are smoothed and shaped to allow for a proper fit of the final veneers. Impressions are taken to fabricate models on which the porcelain veneers are made. At the end of the first visit you will leave wearing temporary veneers. These can be quite cosmetic and can often correct the chips and color issues that are also intended for the final veneers. With the temporary veneers patients get to evaluate and provide their insight on shapes and color. After about 3 weeks the patient returns to have the veneers bonded into place following approval by the dentist and patient. Most common uses of veneers are to correct spaces, chips, discolorations, rotations, or poorly shaped teeth.  Veneers can be used to -Lengthen or shorten teeth -close spaces -whiten your smile -correct overlapped/rotated teeth -restore chipped or fractured edges -replace large white fillings -reface overly large or small teeth.  Porcelain veneers are so desirable for the amazingly natural results that can be achieved. When veneers are performed by an experienced dentist, the symmetry, color, and vibrance are so natural that an untrained eye would never know the difference between natural teeth and veneers. Porcelain veneers are so smooth and glazed on the surface that they do not stain and are going to feel the same as your natural teeth. Benefits of porcelain veneers -very strong -appear very natural/vibrant -don't stain -quick turnaround (typically 3 weeks) -long lasting Porcelain veneers can last many years with good sense and proper hygiene. Regular visits to the dentists are always a good idea to maintain properly and to help ensure a long lasting result?
